I told Slim about this race and his response was, "Why aren't we driving in this thing?"

It's not like the crush it with you in it. It's just a fun low budget race.

Oh ya. It definitely is a risk. They call it "The Curse." If your car gets voted for, they have it crushed. They have only done it once. They do have other things for penalties though, like making your car convertible, or welding huge objects to your hood or roof. If you win the race they give your $1500 in nickels. It's budget racing, that they try to make as fun and goofy as possible. You have to have a theme for your car, and dress up with the theme on Tech day.

Gas pedal.

Also thought this was funny. Replaced a wheel bearing on an S4, and the bolt was really stuck. I broke a few allen sockets wrenching on it and got a nicer set today. It still took a 10 foot 2x4 extension on my Snap-On ratchet to break it loose. Even that was pretty hard.

That's what she said.

It's too bad this car is so gutted, this would be a really sweet full blown project with the engine swap and everything.

My neighbor machined a flat spot in the shifter for me, I drilled and countersunk the holes, and started working on some throttle linkage.

We now have a working throttle linkage. Still a bit left to do, like add a return spring on the carb, put the pivot in double shear, build an adjustable throttle stop, and some kind of limiting device to keep the pedal from coming up to far and flopping over. The upper end of the linkage is adjustable, for a 1:1 ratio and a 1.15:1 ratio.

Shifter installed, and working on a drive line tunnel. Built a notch/cross member to retain strength in that large cross member in the rear of the cars floor.

Yes I did. I got a few more days of work added onto my list, with the same deadline still, so I felt like I needed to make up the time.

Drive line tunnel is complete.

Starting a sub frame for the car. Re using the stock control arms, just moving their pivots around to help the geometry.

The seat is finally mounted, and the steering column bracket is done.

This is what I came up with for an adjustable upper seat mount.

And some work on the sub frame. Got the rear lower control arm mounts done.
